Afternoon Update

Almost done!

We just received the latest update - Isaac is still doing well. There have been some changes in his motor monitoring, but that can be normal, knowing that his legs have such low tone to begin with. The nurse didn't seem concerned with that.

So far, they have completed the majority of the decompression of his spine, and are currently doing a repeat CT Myelogram to ensure that they have alleviated all of the area that was compressed. They think that they are still a couple of hours away from starting to close him up, and then it would still be an hour after that before he would be in the PICU.  Dr. I and Dr. S are both very happy with how things are going so far.  Isaac has been in surgery now for 6 hrs and we obviously hope that he can continue to show great strength and resolve as this procedure hopefully begins to wind down.  We are hopeful that Isaac can be taken off the ventilator tonight and that he will be able to get some kind of response in his legs before bed tonight, but that is still up in the air.

We'll update once they start to close him up, and we know that they are done with the decompression.  We are 3/4 of the way home, now we just need to get the final things done and for Isaac's spinal cord to hold up for awhile longer.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!
