Another appointment, another day... 32wks 5days

Today we had a "regular" appointment with Dr. S at his office. It seemed so weird to go there and have to wait to see him. We were both quite used to getting to see him on a daily basis in the hospital, where he'd occasionally stick around to watch a few minutes of a basketball game, or chat about what had been going on out in the "real world."

We got to his office for our 2pm appointment on time, and were out of there in record time -- 35 minutes from the time we got there. Prior to being hospitalized, we'd waited as long as 2+ hours to have to see him, so he gets a gold star for the day!

At the appointment is was just the usual - weight check (right on track), measurement (40cm = 40 weeks, so now I am measuring what a person carrying one baby would be at 40 weeks). Dr. S answered a couple of questions for us, and then sent us on our way over to the hospital for my non-stress test for the babies.

Baby A is always pretty easy to get on the monitor, he's head down (and has been for weeks), so he is pretty much in the same position all the time (but that doesn't stop him from kicking and punching!). Baby B has a couple of "usual" places that we pick up the heartrate, but today he decided to be a stinker and be at such an angle that someone had to apply pressure to his monitor at an awkward angle to get him to stay on! I ate my usual bit of chocolate for Baby B, and bit of sherbet for Baby A. It's their stimulus to see if they are reactive enough. Now that we're past 32 weeks, they each have to have 3 accelerations each 15 bpm above their baseline heartrate which usually runs somewhere between 125 and 135 bpm, and lasting for 15 seconds. They accomplished that in about 30 minutes, and we were out the door, headed back to the homestead!

So once again, we're quite thankful that everything went well, and we are back home. We'll head back again on Friday for a growth scan and another non-stress test.

Keep praying for continued good health for the babies (and me)!

Until next time-

  1. How joyful uneventful trips to the ob can be! Such good news you're still able to carry and nurture these baby boys.
